Hydraulic Lift Removal

Hydraulic lifts are hydraulic cylinders that contain hydraulic oils. At All American Environmental, we provide hydraulic removal to remove cylinders that are left in the ground when a gas station, service station, repair shop, or maintenance shop becomes vacant. Leaving them in the ground can become potentially hazardous for human health and the environment. Removing ground hydraulic lifts can be a complicated process owing to their size and construction so they must be removed in a careful and efficient manner.

The process of hydraulic lift removal consists of the following steps:

Excavating the concrete and soils surrounding the hydraulic lift

Once it is determined that a hydraulic lift is in the ground and needs to be removed, the first step is to excavate the concrete and soils surrounding it. The excavation is accomplished using an excavating machine. Excavation may also be done manually.

Extracting the hydraulic oil and the hydraulic lift

After the surrounding concrete and soil have been removed, the remaining hydraulic oil is extracted from the cylinder using a specialized vacuum cleaner.  Care is taken to ensure that oil is not spilled onto the soil. When it is determined that there is no oil remaining in the cylinder, the hydraulic lift is extracted from the hole, part by part and loaded onto the disposal truck.

Transporting the waste hydraulic oil and scrap lift

The waste hydraulic oil extracted from the lift and the scrap lift are loaded separately and transported to their respective disposal sites. Both the oil and scrap metal are disposed of at a recycling facility in an environmentally-friendly manner.

Backfilling and compacting the site

The excavation site is backfilled with a certified clean fill material and then compacted. Backfilling is accomplished using an excavating machine. Compaction is done using a compacting machine and then finished by a roller.

Restoring the site with reinforced concrete

Finally, the excavation site is restored with a layer of reinforced concrete. When the process is finished, there will be no signs of excavation.
